The Comeback: Live Your Frickin' Life

Updated: Apr 17

Guess who's back, back again🎵

It was time. I've missed podcasting, spreading positivity, and using my mental health struggles for a greater purpose.

When I stopped recording the podcast, I didn't feel I had a direction for the "Love Your Frickin Life" idea. Frankly, imposter syndrome set in and I thought - who am I to speak on mental health while I'm still dealing with it everyday? I lost touch with the fact that speaking from inside of my own mental health journey is what makes this project impactful, relatable, and important. I also had to come to the realization that waiting until I feel "out of the trenches," meant that I'd likely never come back. My mental illnesses frankly aren't going anywhere - I'll likely always live with some level of anxiety, depressive episodes, and OCD tendencies. My power comes in learning coping mechanisms. My power comes in staying chemically balanced and taking my medicine everyday. My power comes in the connections I make with people by sharing my story. My power comes in choosing to live, and try to enjoy, this life.

This brings us to the name change. I've done some work - both soul searching and researching, the idea of toxic positivity. (If you're interested in this topic, I highly recommend Toxic Positivity by Whitney Goodman) While I believe in spreading light and love, and in working to keep a positive mindset in general, I'd be lying to myself - and to you - if I insisted it was possible to always love you frickin' life. I believe it's okay not to be okay, I believe in honesty and truth in this journey, and that means some days and seasons of life are hard to love. While it may not be possible to love your life everyday, it is possible to choose to LIVE your life everyday. I know because here I am. Some days, that choice isn't easy either, but you're doing it, and I am so so proud of you. Thank you for choosing to stay here with me. Thank you for choosing to Live Your Frickin' Life.

XO, Emily
